Community Commitment

Social opportunities, a priority

The School is developing initiatives to encourage access to higher education for students in under-privileged circumstances;
It is at the head of 3 “Cordées de la Réussite”. Over 50 students accompany high-school pupils from socially-deprived areas (150 pupils from 9 high schools): sessions with tutoring, academic workshops, communications workshops, cultural and scientific visits...

It is working in 2010 on an apprenticeship track as part of its engineering cycle.

Still more young women in scientific careers

Whilst there is a perfect balance of genders in the scientific Baccalaureate final year, young women represent only 20% of students in the preparatory classes for the engineering “Grandes Écoles”.

To improve this situation and welcome more female students, Centrale Paris has undertaken an ambitious programme – the Centrale Paris Initiative for Women. It aims to promote the School more effectively amongst students in the final year and preparatory classes, and to persuade companies to encourage professional achievement by women through the award of seals of approval to company projects that strive for a more even balance.

Significant involvement in assisting the disabled

In order to better welcome disabled students, Centrale Paris has undertaken a number of actions including the specific adaptation of premises, recruitment of dedicated staff and the creation of the “Référent Handicap” post which acts as a mediator between the students and the various services of the School. Centrale Paris also participates actively in the Handimanagement project, whose aim is to heighten our students’ awareness, as future business professionals, of the integration of disabled personnel. Finally, many of our students also devote time to different associative activities, and particularly to the organisation of the Telethon.

A daily concern about the problems of sustainable development

The School incorporates environmental and social ethics in fields as varied as the organisation of the School and its management, campus facilities, the content of courses taught, research, etc.
